Workshop: Rock Painting
I was a part of group 1, which was involved in the rock painting workshop. Here we basically painted whatever we wanted on rocks. Before painting the professor showed us rocks other people have painted, each varied in styles. It was interesting to see the different approaches, from dot art all the way to abstract art. For my rock, I decided to paint lily pads on water. I chose to do something more simple since I had quite a tiny rock to work with. While painting I was reminded a lot of Claude Monet's paintings of water and lily pads, therefore mid way I began using his art as inspiration. However, I ended up not having all the paint colors I needed, I only had pink, turquoise, green and yellow. Since I had no white I opted to add highlights to the lily pads with yellow. For the water, I made darker shades of blue with the turquoise, pink and green, adding an even amount of pink to blue, and a bit of green to mute the colors. My goal was for my original turquoise to be the highlighting color. Overall, it came out really nice, however it would have benefited a lot from white since the highlighting colors get overshadowed by the green and blue. |
